Reyes is a handsome gray-and-white kitty born with pectus excavatum, a condition where his breastbone curves inward. While it doesn’t require special treatment right now, his future humans should be mindful that he might tire out a little faster during playtime. 😴 When that happens, he’ll probably just curl up in your lap for a break! 💞⁠

Apparently, March 3 is “If Pets Had Thumbs Day” 👍️👎️—who knew you could just make up a holiday? 🙄 Well, we’re all in, so we present to you: IF HONEYSAUCE HAD THUMBS. 😸⁠

First order of business? He’d swing open the door to his colony room and make a beeline for our food stash—on the hunt for Churu. But disaster strikes… we’re out of Churu! 😣⁠

Stressed, Honeysauce would rummage through drawers for some Feliway to calm his nerves. No luck there either. 😵⁠

With his newfound dexterity, he'd grab a phone, 📲 fire up Amazon, and start filling a cart with all the essentials—especially Churu and Feliway.⁠

Remember this sweet senior gal from our adoption floor? 🥺 Well, Scallion’s purr-fect Happy Ending Tail has at long last arrived! 💓📖⁠

Scallion kept her name but upgraded to a cozy home with plenty of sunbathing spots and windows to watch the world go by. ☀️ She loves curling up with a warm blanket, especially on chilly winter days, but don’t let that fool you—this bright-eyed tabby is full of energy and loves playing with her favorite wand toys for hours!⁠

Since leaving Tree House, Scallion's new chapter has been full of fun, comfort, and some well-deserved pampering. She enjoys her meals with company (and impeccable manners!)—but she definitely appreciates a little extra indulgence, like a good sprinkling of Friskies on top.⁠

With a bit of medication to keep her feeling her best, Scallion takes it all in stride like the champ she is—minimal fuss, maximum cuteness! She’s also quite the chatterbox, calling for extra attention when she wants it, which is often! 🗨️⁠

Her affectionate nature and loving personality have made her the most amazing addition to her family, and they couldn't be happier to have her in their lives.

His adopter, who loved him dearly, had a personal emergency and wanted to give him the best chance at a Happy Ending. When they brought Fabio back, they made sure he had all his favorite things—his tunnel, tent, bed, and beloved hairbrushes—all of which will go with him to his next home. 🧡⁠

At Tree House, returns happen. While they can feel bittersweet, they also give us valuable insights into a cat’s personality and needs, helping us find an even better match the next time around. In Fabio’s case, we learned he doesn’t like being alone for too long—so maybe his perfect adopter is a homebody who’s ready for a loyal, fluffy companion. 🐱✨⁠

Meet Tweety! 🐱✨ One of many #TreeHouseCats who received top-notch dental care in our resident clinic before hitting the adoption floor!⁠

During her procedure, Tweety’s teeth were scaled and polished—just like a human’s teeth at a regular cleaning! The key difference? Our feline friends are under anesthesia for a thorough deep clean. Tweety also had two painful teeth surgically removed, but don’t worry—cats adapt incredibly well! Even kitties with no teeth can still enjoy their meals (though smaller kibble helps!).⁠

We’re dedicated to keeping our cats’ smiles healthy! You can do the same by brushing your cat’s their teeth with cat-friendly toothpaste (think tuna or chicken flavors!). A little care goes a long way! 🦷💙⁠

Kathleen has cared for a well-managed cat colony in her Belmont Cragin backyard for years. 🏙️ When a new cat started showing up regularly, she knew it was time to “snip and tip” him to keep the colony stable. Neutering is just as crucial as spaying, as unaltered males can attract unspayed females, leading to unexpected litters and the ongoing cycle of trapping and rehoming. 🐈️⁠

Today is World Spay Day: without accessible spay and neuter and TNR initiatives, Chicago would have more and more kittens overwhelming our local shelters and rescues. 🤲 Give to Tree House today to support efforts like our Community Cats Program and Veterinary Wellness Center, so we can “snip and tip” our city kitties, ensuring a healthier outcome for all.⁠

Everyone has their boundaries—even cats! Not every cat enjoys the touch of human hands, and that’s perfectly fine. However, they might still appreciate a little affection. So, what’s the solution? Enter the “petting stick.” 😄

A petting stick is a long stick with a soft attachment at the end, designed to provide pets without the need for direct contact. It’s perfect for cats who aren’t comfortable with human hands, giving them the space they need to build trust over time.

Our petting sticks? They’re fleece-wrapped wand toys, sometimes spritzed with Feliway—a calming pheromone spray that helps kitties feel at ease.

☝️ Take Korra, for example. She’s a cat who loves affection but prefers to receive it from a safe distance while she gets to know people. Will she one day accept pets from human hands? Only time will tell. But our petting sticks have been a wonderful bridge, helping her—and many other #TreeHouseCats—feel more comfortable with human interaction.

Bonnie and Clyde may have made a name for themselves with their heists, but Tree House cats Trogdor and Bryn Mawr are giving them a run for their money—just with more zoomies and plenty of Churu! 💰💼 This mischievous yet lovable duo has found their Happy Ending Tail, and by all accounts, they’re living it up—snuggling, playing, exploring, and, of course, plotting their next big adventure.⁠

True to his new namesake, George Costanza (formally Trogdor) is a master of stirring the pot (just with a bit more fur). Meanwhile, Bryn “Meow” watches closely, always ready to follow his lead. When these two team up, shenanigans are never far behind! Bryn encourages George to embrace his quirky side, while George gives Bryn the confidence to be bold. 😻⁠

One night, while their adopter slept soundly, George hatched a master plan—breaking into a cabinet for a late-night treat. 😴🍗 By morning, the evidence was clear: the crime scene was littered with crumbs, and they were caught red-pawed. 🐾 Their success, however, came at a price—a lock was installed to keep their antics in check! 🔒😹⁠

Last month, during a transfer at Chicago Animal Care and Control, we met Sisko—a two-year-old cat with some serious injuries. 🤕 He had a severe neck wound, complete with stitches and three Penrose drains (soft, flexible tubes that drain fluid from a wound). The gruesome sight would make most people squirm. And that’s not all—he was also anemic, had an injured front limb that will ultimately require amputation, and tested positive for feline leukemia virus. 😲 Despite all this, Sisko was rolling around on the floor of his cage, purring, and eager to meet us. 💚 While we may never know the full extent of the trauma he suffered, we knew we could give him a fighting chance to recover.⁠

In his first few weeks at Tree House, we worked to stabilize Sisko's anemia and treat his neck wound to best prepare him for his much-needed amputation. ⚕️ Due to his feline leukemia diagnosis, Sisko’s immune system is weaker than that of other cats. His neck injury, in particular, has proven difficult to heal—especially since he’s an active cat (think: golden retriever energy!). 🐕️⁠

Despite everything, we're happy to report he’s got a big appetite and is improving every day in foster care. The road ahead is long, but we’re by Sisko’s side every step of the way. 🛣️🧡

❄️ As the temperatures drop, we're warming up with some uplifting updates from our FeLV+ family. 🔥 After saying goodbye to Alto, Khloe Coulee, and Bass, we're grateful to see their legacy live on through the cats who remain with us. Baritone, Tenor, and Cool Kid found their forever homes this past holiday season, and Bunny and Samson followed soon after. Right before Valentine’s Day, Hugs and Kisses joined our café and were adopted in no time! 🤩⁠

Big Bear recently joined the café and has already won the hearts of visitors. 🐻 Don’t wait too long to book an appointment—he might be leaving with a new family any day now! ⁠
